Recognition, Outstanding Achievements, and Honorary Appointments

  1. Programme External Assessor for the Bachelor of Science (Bioinformatics), University of Malasia, six years starting 2013.
  2. Trustee's Award for Faculty Excellence, 2010 Wright State University.. This is the highest award given by the university. The annual award honors those who serve as the most outstanding of role models for all faculty.
  3. As the Kno.e.sis Center's Director, onFeb. 19, 2010 Ted Strickland, then Governor of Ohio, and Eric Fingerhut, Chancellor of the Ohio Board of Regents, recognized the center as a "Center of Excellence."
  4. IEEE Fellow elected on Nov. 13, 2005 by IEEE Board of Directors with citation "for contributions to information integration and workflow management." Class of 2006.
  5. With an h-index of 67 and over 15,000 citations (as of Dec. 2010), named among the most highly cited authors in computer science. (A review of Sheth's publication citations record along with examples of Sheth's top-cited publications in several journals and conferences.) Highlights include: Sheth-Larson 1990 (with over 2,485 citations) is the all-time most cited paper in information integration, second most cited paper in distributed databases, and one of the top five most cited papers in the entire field of databases; Georgakopoulos-Hornick-Sheth (with over 1,500 citations) is the most cited paper in the area of workflow management. At least 42 papers have more than 100 citations.
