Kno.e.sis is delighted to announce that the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute of NIH has funded "Semantics and Services enabled Problem Solving Environment for Trypanosoma cruzi." The total award for the four-year project is $1,510,470. Collaborators in this Wright State University led project (Prof. Sheth is the PI) are the University of Georgia's Tarleton Lab and LSDIS Lab (Prof. Tarleton, Prof. Doshi) and the National Center of Biomedical Ontologies at Stanford University (Prof. Mark Musen, Dr. Natasha Noy). Prof. Shaojun Wang receives a Google Research Award for his proposal "Syntactic, Semantic and Lexical Language Models for Machine Translation." This award will enable Shaojun Wang and his research group to build a family of statistical language models beyond n-grams that simultaneously capture various local lexical and long-range syntactic and semantic regularities of natural language.

Dr. Raymer is the WSU PI of the successful Choose Ohio First proposal “Ohio Consortium for Bioinformatics,” which will provide scholarships to Ohio students interested in pursuing bioinformatics at the undergraduate and graduate levels. WSU award: $235,000, 2008–2013.

HP Labs gives an award to Prof. Sheth to support research in automatic ontology creation applications and in statistical attribute and relationship extraction from community-authored content such as Wikipedia. This award is based on work initiated by Christopher Thomas.
