Location, Location, Location
- I am from Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka is a small country down in the middle of the Indian Ocean. I'm proud to be a Sri Lankan. However most South Asians look alike and this often leads to mistaken identities. For example, I have been greeted and addressed in unknown (probably south asian from my best guess) languages, many times during my travels. Being a former British colony , most Sri Lankans speak British English. Some words (such as serviette which refers to paper towel - is a common term among the Sri Lankan English speakers but apparently completely alien to the Americans!) cause amusement and confusion among my friends.
Free as in Freedom!
- I am a member of the Apache Software Foundation and an avid opensource advocate.
Apache Software Foundation (ASF) is a non-profit organization that supports the development of software through a community process and distributes them with both senses of freedom (free as in free beer and free as in freedom). I've contributed to many opensource projects and continue to do so in many ways, including non-apache projects.
