Pablo Mendes
News: Since July, 2013 I have joined IBM Research Almaden as a Postdoctoral Research Associate.


Pablo N. Mendes defended his PhD in Computer Science in Engineering in 2013. Since July 2013 he has been a Postdoctoral Research Associate at IBM Research. From Oct 2010-2012, he worked as a Research Associate at the Freie Universitaet Berlin. He has also worked as an intern at Yahoo! Search in 2008 (California) and Yahoo! Research in 2009 (Barcelona). His specialty is Information Extraction (particularly entity recognition and disambiguation). He is the lead developer of DBpedia Spotlight, among other open source software projects. He also has experience and is passionate about the Web (semantic, linked data, 2.0, ...), Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, Big Data and Bioinformatics.

I was born in Minas Gerais and grew up around Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I love music in general and play the guitar, electric bass and samba percussion. My favorite sports are: Capoeira, Soccer and Volleyball.
